Divers on the frontlines

of climate change

Divers for Climate’s Summer of Solidarity campaign is timed for the 2025–2026 summer—a season predicted to bring another round of record-breaking marine heatwaves, following the largest ever experienced last year. For many in our community, this summer carries a sense of anxiety and uncertainty - we are on the frontline of a rapidly changing climate.

This campaign is about turning that anxiety into collective action, and using this pivotal moment to showcase Divers for Climate’s new strategy. The Summer Solidarity Sprint unfolds over 90 days, combining national storytelling with local action.

Each month will spotlight a different impact of marine heatwaves, through a consistent mix of education, engagement, and storytelling: coral bleaching, algal blooms, floods & severe weather, and shifting species.

Dive In Solidarity

Divers are experiencing a wider pattern of climate-driven ocean change, from coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef to disappearing kelp forests in the south. Divers are among the first to see these impacts and among the most trusted voices to communicate them.

Stand in solidarity with communities feeling the impacts firsthand. Raise the alarm on marine heatwaves and their cascading effects.

Divers for Climate acknowledge Indigenous and First Nations people as the first custodians, scientists and explorers of the ocean, and recognise their continuing connection with the land and sea. We recognise that Indigenous people are disproportionately bearing the brunt of ocean climate impacts and must play a key role in solutions. We commit to listening to, learning from and amplifying Indigenous knowledge and wisdom in all our endeavours. Divers for Climate was inspired by and created on the land and sea country of the Gimuy Walubarra Yidinji, Yirriganydji and Gunggandji people. We pay our respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.
