The divers for climate Story
About
Divers for Climate kicked off as a community of passionate divers and tourism folks in late 2020, coming together online to chat about how diving and climate change intersect. Fast forward to now, and we’re a registered non-profit with thousands of divers onboard, all pushing for more action on climate change.
As divers, we see first-hand the beauty that exists underwater as well as the threats it faces from climate change. Coral bleaching and marine heatwaves, extreme weather, rising-sea levels and ocean acidification are just a few of the issues hitting our favourite dive spots.
That’s why we’re here: to share these hidden stories and drive transformative change. We’re all about sparking important conversations, motivating community action and rallying support to protect our oceans and livelihoods from the damage caused by fossil fuels for generations to come. Dive in with us and help make a splash for a better blue planet!

Mission
There are currently an estimated 6 million active divers per year, dive centres in almost every country and international agencies which drive the global dive network. The marine tourism industry is also one of the largest sectors in the ocean economy, presenting a unique opportunity to motivate stronger global action on climate change.
Our mission is to empower the dive community and activate a new wave of climate ambassadors who will inspire the public and key decision-makers to take action to protect people and oceans at scale.
Vision
We envision a future where the voices of divers resonate in every politician's office, reverberate in every media outlet and echo on every stage - and where we can continue to enjoy our favourite dive sites for generations to come.
